FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

In 1958 the Jet series was given a makeover with Gretsch's new humbucking Filter'Tron pickups and ebony fingerboard with neo-classic inlays. This configuration stayed the same until 1961 when the single cutaway body was changed to a double cutaway body. In 1989, Gretsch reintroduced the 6128 Duo Jet, but with a mix of features from the 1950s to 1970s model years. In 2003, under FMIC supervision, the guitar's features became more focused when it received the classic 1950s body and headstock. It was offered as a rendition of the 1959 Duo Jet with either the G-cutout tailpiece (6128) or a Bigsby tailpiece (6128T). The former model was made from 2003 to 2009 leaving only the Bigsby version in the catalog. The badge on the back of the headstock was applied to all 2008 model year Pro-line Gretsch models and it commemorates the 125th anniversary of the Gretsch company.
