FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

Few F-100s were made after 1982 due to the introduction of the S-500 and SC-series guitars and the Nighthawk and Cavalier sealed its fate in 1983.  However, the F-100 evolved despite its lack of popularity and it was available by special order even though it was not listed in catalogs or price lists.  In 1984, the F-100 received the same neck and body style as other G&Ls (such as the Skyhawk and S-500), black crinkle hardware, and a standard Saddle Lock bridge instead of the string-through-body unit.  The F-100 shown is an unusual transitional example with old style body and string-through-body Saddle Lock bridge, but with a later style neck, tuners, and black crinkle hardware.  Unlike earlier F-100s, the pickups on this guitar have allen head pole pieces rather than slot head poles.
