FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The SC-3 received a facelift in 1984 when it was given a more traditional body shape usually made from poplar or maple. The guitar shown here has an early second style body. This is a transitional body between the early body of 1982-83 and the SC-3 body of the 1985-87 period. It retains the early '80s slab body (no rear contour) but has the Strat-shape of the later models. Although sunburst was a standard color for student models beginning in 1984, most examples are blue, red, black or white, probably because these colors were more popular and opaque colors hide less-than-perfect wood. Though it doesn't show well in the photo, the body is made of nicely flamed maple.
