FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The ASAT shown here is a transitional example from 1987. It has features from the early "Broadcaster" version, such as black chrome tuners, metal string tree, maple fingerboard, and serif logo, but it also has a couple of features found on later ASATs such as the gold sparkle G&L logo with registered trademark symbol and metal pickguard with black crinkle finish. By year's end, ASATs had lost the Broadcaster features and the ebony fingerboard option was phased out. It was given a powder coated aluminum pickguard, plastic string tree, chrome tuners, and new block style logos. After the BBE takeover, the ASAT was further refined with the addition of a satin finish neck and 3-ply plastic pickguard.
