After some discussion and comparing of notes with noted G&L researcher Gabe Dellevigne, it appears that G&L fitted both S-500 and Skyhawk pickups to this model.  The ASAT III shown here has Skyhawk pickups which gives the guitar a warmer sound compared to ASAT III's fitted with S-500 pickups.
