FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

L-1000 basses made after 1986 are uncommon as the popularity model waned in the shadow of its big brother, the L-2000. This is a late example of an L-1000 bass from the last year of production. Though it was listed in the 1992 catalog, production for this model pretty much ended by mid-year making '92 L-1000s rather rare. Since this bass was made after BBE took control of the company, it has some post-Leo Fender era features such as the scooped headstock-to-neck contour, finish color, and body wood. In addition, the tone circuit is a little different from earlier L-1000s. The alder body also gives the L-1000 a unique voice not found in L-1000s with ash, maple or mahogany bodies. BBE improved the bass tuners in 1992 with the addition of lightweight aluminum tuner posts and are called "Ultralite" tuners in their literature.
