FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

Hagstrom guitars were made in Sweden from 1958 to 1983. In 2005, Hagstrom was re-launched through a licensing agreement with Tricor AB. The guitars are manufactured at a facility in China dedicated solely to building Hagstrom guitars. The Viking Deluxe is loosely based on the Viking of the 1970s. It has the center block design and fleur-de-lis headstock inlay of the late '70s Viking and retains the visual cues of the early '70s Viking such as the "S" holes and "duck foot" ("melted Grover Imperial") tuning machines. The new model also retains the unique H-expander truss rod system developed by Hagstrom in the late 1970s. This system makes the neck strong and stable which allows for a thinner neck profile. A new feature is the Resinator fingerboard that is composed of an environmentally-friendly wood fiber resin composite material that feels like ebony. The model's cosmetics have changed slightly since its introduction in 2012. Sometime between 2013 and 2015, the plain control knobs were changed to knurled chrome knobs embossed with the Hagstrom "H" logo. In 2016, the logo on the truss rod cover went from vertical to slanted, the headstock binding changed from pearloid to cream, and the D'Aquisto inspired white-bound "S" holes were changed  to Hagstrom's oversize "F" holes bound in black-white-black.
