FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The G&L Interceptor was introduced in 1984 as a stunning Super Strat style guitar. Born during the peak of "big hair" metal music popularity, the first three versions are Interceptor had wild looking X-shaped bodies. In 1988, the 4th and final body style Interceptor was introduced. This version had an angular Stratocaster-like body with beveled edges. These were given a tone tone finish to accentuate the beveled body contours. Like the early versions, the last style Interceptor could be ordered with one of three combinations of pickups: single coil/single coil/humbucker, humbucker/humbucker, or three single coils; with the first arrangement being the most common since it was already in use on the Invader. The other two pickup configurations are very rare. This Interceptor is an “employee” guitar that was made with leftover parts after regular production of the model had ceased. The body is dated 1988 and the fine tuner vibrato is the earliest Pat. Pending version.
