FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

This is a Fender Custom reissue of a short-lived, transitional version of the Jaguar from 1965. The Jaguar was given a bound fingerboard sometime around September 1965, but a short month later it was being produced with the large CBS style headstock with Schaller "F" tuners. The guitar shown here represents the earliest version of the Jaguar with a bound fingerboar. The Aztec Gold finish is similar to Firemist Gold that was used on the original Fenders from that time period. In the name of inventory control, the Custom Shop only has one set of pickups that it uses in the Jaguars they make. These have flush pole pieces like the pickups used on Jaguars from 1962 through about October 1963. However, Jaguar pickups after October 1963 had staggered pole pieces and this reissue should have those pickpus. What this means is that all Custom Shop Jaguars will sound roughly the same (i.e. - early Jaguar) regardless of what reissue year they are supposed to represent.
