FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The large flake finish as found on the John Jorgenson model is extremely difficult to apply and requires a special process. The finish on the Jorgenson model was applied by Marty Bell, a subcontractor in Texas, since the G&L factory did not have the equipment to comply with strict California air pollution regulation or the expertise to apply such a finish. John had specified gloss finished necks with rosewood fingerboards for his signature model at a time when G&L was only producing necks with a satin finish. In addition, a few (I've only seen 4 so let's say 10 or less) left the factory with maple fingerboards and the guitar shown here is one of the few that were equipped with a fretted maple neck.
