FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
The SB-1 was G&L's entry level bass. This model was introduced in late 1982 and produced through 1984. After 1984, it was completely redesigned as a new mid-line bass. As a budget model, the early SB-1 had a smaller, non-contoured slab body and no-frills electronics. Yet the quality of the material used and fit and finish were every bit as good as on the high priced professional models. The single coil pickups used on the student model basses were exclusive the SB-1, SB-2 and Lynx models and their excellent tonal range belies their budget status.
