FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The G&L Superhawk was one of three “Superstrat” style guitars introduced in mid-1984. Although Dale Hyatt requested several times for (a very stubborn) Leo Fender to develop one for the "Superstrat" models, G&L did not have a PAF-size MFD humbucking pickup available. Schaller humbucking pickups were used since G&L already had a good relationship with that company and the pickups were a perfectly fine choice. Like the other Superstrat G&L models, the Invader and Rampage, the Superhawk is most often found equipped with the optional Kahler vibrato unit with a locking nut. The guitar shown here is a very early example from the first month of production.
