FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

Not to be confused with the Custom Telecaster (1959-71), the Telecaster Custom was introduced in 1972. It had a Seth Lover-designed humbucking pickup in the neck position and volume/tone controls for each pickup. The model proved to be popular in the '70s with rockers who like to emulate Keith Richards (famous for using Telecasters with neck humbuckers). Unlike the standard Telecaster which retained a 4-bolt neck plate during the '70s, the Custom Tele was fitted with the 3-bolt tilt neck arrangement. The model was discontinued in 1981 and the guitar shown here is surely one of the last (and heaviest) Custom Telecasters.
