FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The SB-1 was G&L's entry level bass. This model was introduced in late 1982 and produced through 1984. After 1984, it was completely redesigned as a new mid-line bass. As a budget model, the early SB-1 had a smaller, non-contoured slab body and no-frills electronics. Yet the quality of the material used and fit and finish were every bit as good as on the high priced professional models. The single coil J-style pickups were exclusive the SB-1, SB-2 and Lynx models and their excellent tonal range belies their budget status.
